Metrics are a system of quantifiable parameters that encompass two factors: 1) what to be measure; and 2) how and when to carry out such
measurement. Metrics, when correctly defined, play a vital role in assessing the health of an organization. Metrics can identify
important events and trends in the organization and can help guide the organization toward informed decisions.
